"The relocation is of great historic importance. Both Sde-Dov and Hatzor AFB partook in each one of Israel's wars and operations", said Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin, Commander of the IAF. "The IAF adjusts itself according to the challenges of the future. Hatzor will have high-quality infrastructure and munitions, as well as an improved work environment for its service members".

A Meaningful Process
Over the next year, Hatzor AFB will integrate squadrons and units which operate from Sde-Dov AFB – this is meant to improve the IAF's capabilities. Sde-Dov AFB was the first airbase used by the IAF, before the establishment of the state of Israel. Today it acts as an important factor in the IAF's military intelligence operations. "In a year, a new age of operational capabilities will begin here in Hatzor. The base will be completely qualified", said Col. A', Commander of Sde-Dov AFB.
