60 years afterwards: Auschwitz/Birkenau Flyover Release date 04.09.2003
Three IAF F-15 fighter jets pass above the Auschwitz/Birkenau destruction camp in Poland, during a memorial flyover for the victims of the Holocaust.

A formation of three IAF F-16 fighter jets takes off from the Poland Air Force base “Radom”, passes over the Auschwitz/Birkenau in a moving salute the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust. The formation’s pilots carry with them numerous victims files for which they searched for in the name hall in “Yad Vashem” prior to flight, murdered exactly 60 years before the flyover – on September 4th 1943.

Brigadier-General Amir Eshel says over the communication system which can also be heard on the ground: “We, the Air Force pilots in the skies of the horror camp, have risen from the ashes of the millions of victims, carry their silent scream, salute for their bravery and promise to be a shield for the Jewish nation and their country – Israel”.

Watching from the ground is the delegation of  “Witnesses in Uniform”, consisting 180 officers and non-commissioned officers in compulsory and reserve service, led by Brigadier-General Ido Nechushtan, Head of the Air Directorate.
