A twin engined transport that served in the IAF during the War of Independence. The Lodestar is a development of the Lockheed-14, and was manufactured in many countries as a military transport in the late 30's.
One Lodestar was purchased by the IAF in 1948. It was painted in camouflage colors and joined service with the transport squadron at Ramat David. It was used in Operation 'Avak' - the airlift of supplies to the Negev during the War of Independence - and was retired in 1949.
