A light twin engined amphibious plane. Two planes of this type served in the IAF during the War of Independence. 176 Widgeons had been manufactured in WW2, for hunting down German U-boats. After the war, production was transferred to France, and the plane's definition was changed to 'marine transport'.
In the IAF, the planes served for transport over land between the different Heyl Ha'avir bases. One of the Widgeons crashed into the Sea of Galilee on December 2nd, 1948, killing three Mahal overseas volunteers who had been aboard. The second plane was retired in 1949.
